SHOW INFORMATION

Show Date: May 20,21-2006
Place:  Crook County Fairgrounds
Judges: Patti Morgan, KS and Tami Lash, MI


This is an ALSA Level II
optional double point halter show  and single point ALSA Performance show with many non-ALSA classes included.  Exhibitors will be able to designate double or single point halter show and which judge (s) they wish to show under.

Entry Deadline - Registrations must be postmarked by May 5th  to be included in the  show program. Registrations postmarked after May 5th will be charged $5.00  per class late fee. 

Class Fees - ALSA Classes:
  $15.00 per class (single show) or $30 per class (double show)
  $7.50 per youth class (single show) or $15 per youth class (double show)

  Non-ALSA Classes:
  $5.00 per class for Maiden Performance, String-a-long, or Costume
  $25.00 per entry for Jackpot Obstacle

ALSA Fees - $5.00 per animal (single show) or $10.00 per animal (double show)
  entered in ALSA classes.

  Exhibitors who are NOT ALSA members and plan to show in the ALSA    classes must pay a $15.00 (youth)/$30.00 (adult) non-member fee (single   show) or $30 (youth)/$60.00 (adult) non-member fee (double show).     
Members must send a copy of their ALSA card with their entry.

Stall Fees -  $20 per stall Friday or Saturday night or $36.00 per stall for both nights.
  Stalls are 10x10 covered horse box stalls with sand/dirt flooring.  Straw    will be provided.  NO shredding is allowed by the fairgrounds.

Health
Requirements-
Health certificates of Veterinarian Inspection are required  for all llama   traveling across Oregon state lines.  Show staff will not be checking    health papers, this is the exhibitor's  responsibility.


ILR, ARI, or CLRC Registration:  Exhibitors entered in ALSA classes must be the registered owners and make entry in the exact names (owner and llama/alpaca) as show on the registration certificate or have a "Permission To Show" form from the registered owners.  All llamas entered in approved classes, with the exception of youth classes and adult non-breeder halter classes, must be registered or have passed screening with the International Lama Registry (ILR) or the Canadian Livestock Record Corporation (CLRC).  Non-breeder llamas that are not registered and wish to be in the ALSA award system and show in halter must show in the adult non-breeder halter class and must have a veterinarian certificate verifying the animal is a gelding, vasectomized male, or a spayed or non-reproductive female.  All alpacas entered in approved classes, with the exception of youth classes, must be registered by the Alpaca Registry, Inc. (ARI) or the Canadian Livestock Record Corporation (CLRC).  Copies of registration certificates must be sent with entry forms.

Arrival: Show staff will be available for check-in from Noon-9:00 pm
  Friday, May 19th 

Departure: All llamas must be out of the stalls by 9:00 am Monday May, 22.

Awards: Ribbons will be awarded for 1st-6th place in each class (ALSA and non-ALSA).  Grand and Reserve Champions in all halter and performance divisions (ALSA and non-ALSA) will be awarded ribbons and special prizes.  1st place GOS and POD will be awarded special prizes.  We will also be awarding Ribbons and Banners to the Overall Grand & Reserve Champion Male and Female Llamas.

Private Treaty Sale:  Entry in the Private Treaty Sale is for COLA members only.   All entries should include a Private Treaty Sale Entry Form and copy of ILR certificate.  Private Treaty Sale llamas will be presented at the banquet Saturday night. See enclosed form for more information.

Fleece Competition:  Fleece should be delivered to the show registration area at the fairgrounds Friday by 8:00 pm.  Exhibitors need not be present to enter, but are responsible for delivery and pick up of their fleece entries.  Judging will take place during the day Saturday.  Ribbons will be awarded during judging and winners will be announced at the banquet Saturday night. See enclosed form for more details.

Made With Wool Project Competition:  Projects should be delivered to the show registration area at the fairgrounds Friday by 8:00 pm.  Judging will take place during the day Saturday.  Ribbons will be awarded during judging and winners will be announced at the banquet Saturday night.  After the items have been judged on Saturday, exhibitors may tag any items they wish to sell.  Sales will be the exhibitors responsibility. See enclosed form for more details.

Banquet: The Saturday Night Banquet will start at 7:00 pm. Social hour will begin at 6:00 pm.  Tickets for the banquet are $15/adult and $7.50/child.   The menu will include beef, chicken, vegetable, potato, salad, and drinks. There will be a no host bar.  Private Treaty Sale Llamas will be presented and announcement of the winners of the Fleece Competition and Made With Wool Project Competition.  There will also be raffle items and silent auction items.  This is guaranteed to be the best dining experience you will have had!

Commercial Vendor:  Fees are $35 per 10x10 space and should include a Commercial Vendor Entry Form.  More information is supplied on the Commercial Vendor Entry Form.

Advertising:  Fee schedule for Class Sponsorship, Premium & Ribbon Sponsorship, and Business Card Ads is outlined on the Advertising Opportunities Form.  All advertisers and sponsors will be able to hang their ranch / business banner along the show ring  and will mentioned regularly throughout the show by announcers, as well as having their name in the show program.

REGISTRATION  All sale llamas must be in place by Friday at 9:00       pm. and remain at the fairgrounds until end of show      on Sunday.  All entries should include entry form       and copy of  ILR Certificate.

COSTS   Entry fee $25.00 per llama (non-refundable).
   
Entry fee includes stall fees. 

STALLS   Each entrant will be given a 12x12 stall in the show       arena.  The flooring is dirt.  The stalls will be for sale      animals only.  Each stall will accommodate 2-3 adults
     or 3-4 weanlings. No straw or shredding will be
    allowed. (Fairground rules)

This sale is open to COLA members only.   COLA will
    furnish halter sales tags and stall information cards.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS


HALTER CLASSES

Llama Age Divisions:  Juvenile (5 mos.-12 mos.)
    Yearling (12 mos. - 24 mos.)
    Two Year old (24 mos.-36 mos.)
    Adult (37 mos. and over )
                           On a llama's date of birth, the llama moves up to the next age group.

Wool Divisions:

Suri Wool - wool hangs and drapes over the body forming a natural part along the spine.  Fibers         are grouped into a distinctive and well defined lock structure.

Light Wool-minimal body wool, short neck wool with smooth head, ears, and legs.

Medium Wool -Moderate to long body wool, minimal to moderate neck wool, smooth to moderate            head and leg wool.

Heavy Wool - abundant body and neck wool, minimal to abundant head and leg wool, leg wool at         least to knee and hock.


Sex Divisions: Male classes are for intact males
 
Female classes are for fertile, breed-able females
 
Non-breeder  is for geldings or infertile females.  This category has no sex or wool   divisions.

Produce of Dam: Each entry must include two offspring of either sex by the same dam.  All produce must be shown in their appropriate halter class.  If dam is not owned by the exhibitor, written consent from the owner must be mailed in with entries. The entry must be made in the name of the owner of the dam.

Get of Sire: 
Each entry must include three offspring of either sex by the same sire and out of at least two dams. Offspring  must be shown in their respective halter class.  If the sire is not owned by the exhibitor, written consent from the owner must be mailed in with entries. The entry must be made in the name of the owner of the sire.

Youth Ages : Junior Youth (8-11 yrs.)  Intermediate Youth (12-14 yrs.)  Senior Youth (15-18 yrs.)
Youth Classes:  Showmanship,  Public Relations, Obstacle , Pack

The age divisions may be combined if there are fewer than 8 total entries in any two of the age categories.  Youth ages are:  8 yr. olds as of their birthday, 9-18 yrs. as of January 1, 2005.





PERFORMANCE CLASSES
To compete for ALSA Grand Champion Performance Llama, the llama must enter at least 2 ALSA Advanced performance events. To compete for Grand Champion Novice Performance Llama, the llama must enter all 3 novice performance events.  Highest point total determines the champions.  Grand and Reserve Champion Junior, Intermediate, and Senior Youth will be awarded.  Also awarded will be Grand & Reserve Maiden Performance  (exhibitors must enter all three Maiden classes to qualify for these awards).

Obstacle
Llamas may be entered in only one of the obstacle divisions (Youth or Open). 
Novice   Non -ALSA. Class is open to any animal over 5 mos. that has not placed 1st-3rd   three times in Novice Obstacle.
Advanced   This class is open to any animal over 5 mos. of age.
Maiden  Non-ALSA. This class is open to any llama that has never entered an obstacle    class or has never ribboned.

Public Relations Llamas may be entered in only one of the Public Relations (Youth or Open),
  divisions. 
Novice    Class is open to any animal over 5 mos. that has not placed 1st-3rd three times in   Novice Public Relations.
Advanced  Class is open to any animal over 5 mos. of age.
Maiden  Non-ALSA. This class is open to any llama that has never entered a Public Relations    class or never ribboned.

Pack   Llamas may be entered in only one of the Pack (Youth or Open), divisions. 
Novice    Class is open to any animal that has not placed 1st-3rd three times in Novice Pack.
  Llamas over 36 mos. must carry weight. (See ALSA hand-book).
Advanced  Class is open to any animal over 5 mos.  Llamas over 36 mos. must carry    weight. (See ALSA handbook).
Maiden  Non-ALSA. This class is open to any llama that has never entered a pack    class or never ribboned.  Llamas must wear a pack filled out as it would be on the trail.

String-a-Long NON ALSA. Participants in this class must lead a 3 llama pack string through various   obstacles that they might encounter on the trail.  All llamas in the string-a-long must   wear packs filled out as they would be on the trail.

Obstacle Driving Driving classes are open to any cart-pulling llama.  No riders permitted.
Pleasure Driving

Costume
-  Judging criteria includes originality, training, time and energy involved, etc.  No   ALSA points awarded.

Timed Obstacle  Non ALSA. This is a timed event.  Open to any age llama and handler.  Points will be   deducted for safety faults. No ALSA points awarded. Winner takes the $100 prize   money!
