CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
HALTER CLASSES
Llama Age Divisions: Juvenile (5 mos.-12 mos.) Yearling (12 mos. - 24 mos.) Two Year old (24 mos.-36 mos.) Adult (37 mos. and over ) On a llama's date of birth, the llama moves up to the next age group.
Wool Divisions:
Suri Wool - wool hangs and drapes over the body forming a natural part along the spine. Fibers are grouped into a distinctive and well defined lock structure.
Light Wool-minimal body wool, short neck wool with smooth head, ears, and legs.
Medium Wool -Moderate to long body wool, minimal to moderate neck wool, smooth to moderate head and leg wool.
Heavy Wool - abundant body and neck wool, minimal to abundant head and leg wool, leg wool at least to knee and hock.
Sex Divisions: Male classes are for intact males Female classes are for fertile, breed-able females Non-breeder is for geldings or infertile females. This category has no sex or wool divisions.
Produce of Dam: Each entry must include two offspring of either sex by the same dam. All produce must be shown in their appropriate halter class. If dam is not owned by the exhibitor, written consent from the owner must be mailed in with entries. The entry must be made in the name of the owner of the dam.
Get of Sire: Each entry must include three offspring of either sex by the same sire and out of at least two dams. Offspring must be shown in their respective halter class. If the sire is not owned by the exhibitor, written consent from the owner must be mailed in with entries. The entry must be made in the name of the owner of the sire.
Youth Ages : Junior Youth (8-11 yrs.) Intermediate Youth (12-14 yrs.) Senior Youth (15-18 yrs.) Youth Classes: Showmanship, Public Relations, Obstacle , Pack
The age divisions may be combined if there are fewer than 8 total entries in any two of the age categories. Youth ages are: 8 yr. olds as of their birthday, 9-18 yrs. as of January 1, 2005.
